Forest therapy

PARTNER WITH THE NATURAL WORLD FOR HEALING, GUIDANCE, & Support

Get a sense of what to expect on a forest bathing walk.

Forest therapy, also known as forest bathing, is inspired by the Japanese practice of shinrin-yoku which translates to “soaking in the forest atmosphere.” Through a series of carefully crafted invitations, the guide invites you to use your senses to develop an immediate connection to the natural world and yourself.

Whether you’re looking to quiet your mind, connect to the land, restore your relationship to yourself, partner with nature for guidance, or something else, forest bathing is accessible to everyone as it is a slow, mindful way of walking and connecting with nature. Walks conclude with a service of non- caffeinated herbal tea.

As a growing global wellness movement, forest therapy is backed by nearly 40 years of scientific research on the holistic benefits of immersing yourself in nature. These benefits include:

  • reduced stress and blood pressure

  • increased creativity and focus

  • improved mood and sleep

  • boost to immune functions

Nature can also act as a guide and teacher for facing and handling life challenges and grief — generational, systemic, ecological, and personal. Many participants express that forest therapy supported them in emotional healing and wellbeing.

FAQs

  • As a growing global wellness movement, forest therapy is backed by nearly 40 years of scientific research on the holistic benefits of immersing yourself in nature. These benefits include reduced stress and blood pressure, increased creativity and focus, improved mood and sleep, and a boost to immune functions.

Nature can also serve as a healer, teacher, and guide for handling life challenges, seeking answers to difficult questions, and finding support and grounding or presence.

  • A guided forest bathing is a leisurely walk on a path or trail with stops along the way where we will gather. Through a series of carefully crafted invitations, we will use our senses to develop an immediate connection to the natural world and the land. This is a slow, mindful way of walking and connecting with nature. Our walk will conclude with a service of non caffeinated herbal tea. Walks typically last 1.5 — 2 hours, but can be longer in duration.

  • I ask that you come with a sense of wonder and curiosity. Please dress comfortably and for the weather, including a hat, jacket, layers, umbrella, and proper shoes.

You may also want to bring the following:

    Water bottle

A walking stick or trekking pole

A small blanket to sit or lie down on

A few small, folding stools are available by request

  • The walk will still be on if it’s raining or snowing lightly, unless it’s unsafe weather---thunderstorms, high winds, torrential downpours or the like. If it’s raining, or the forecast predicts rain, it’s important to have a waterproof shell so please bring a rain jacket, and if you have them, rain pants. Rain and snow often enhances the sensory experience and makes for some of our most memorable walks. If unsafe weather is in the forecast, the walk will be rescheduled.

What people are saying

“Naomi has a strength and presence that mirrors nature. With well-paced invitations, she guided me through a private forest bathing walk where my senses were activated and a deep calm settled in. The experience has stayed with me throughout the seasons, and I look forward to another guided session soon.”
