Aspiring Mormon Women
In June 2013, Naomi co-founded with Dianne Orcutt and Ryan Hammond, Aspiring Mormon Women, a 501c(3) non-profit organization with the broad purpose to encourage, support, and celebrate the educational and professional aspirations of Latter-day Saint women. From 2013-2017, Naomi directed and oversaw the creation of the organization’s website that showcased women’s personal stories and informational articles. She also managed and moderated the organization’s Facebook discussion forum with over 7,000 women seeking and offering advice, mentoring, and networking. Aspiring Mormon Women also hosted quarterly meet-up groups across the United States to provide in-person networking and mentoring opportunities. In September 2015, Naomi developed the #EmbraceYourAND social media campaign born out of her sense that too many Latter-day Saint women see family and career as an either-or proposition.
Aspiring Mormon Women was born from Naomi’s experiences pursuing higher education as a Mormon woman and her belief that women find empowerment to pursue a wider array of options and their goals when provided role models, connection, resources, and support. Many women report that involvement with Aspiring Mormon Women has been the catalyst to making changes in their educational and professional lives and has been a means to finding mentorship and new employment opportunities.
